17. Export simulation results
The identification tag for this tutorial is PDS-AAN.
17.1. Tutorial overview
This tutorial covers:
- Exporting results into a new project
17.2. Exporting results
After a simulation is completed or stopped, the final state of all DObjects in the simulation is saved within the results folder. A new project can be created that begins with the final state (position and velocity for all 6 degrees of freedom) of all DObjects in the previously executed simulation.
Note
- Exporting simulations gives the user the ability to start a simulation in a steady state configuration. The system can be settled to a steady state in an initial simulation and then exported to a new simulation. This will eliminate any transient effects in the exported simulation that take time to settle.
- Open a previously completed simulation in PST. If a previous tutorial has not been completed, input files can be downloaded here.
- Click the Export button in the top “Project” ribbon.
- A new project window will appear. To the right of “Working folder”, click Browse and navigate to the desired working folder.
- Fill in a project name, a project identifier (optional), and a description (optional).
- Click OK.
A new folder will be created in the working directory named with the project name. The folder will contain the exported simulation files.
